French knitting at (LTP)

How did I get three strings? That is what happens in french knitting, if you muck up it is very hard to fix it. I learnt how to french knit the other day and it is awesome. Because I didn't have the skill to actually knit properly, I mean there are some pretty talented people in our class that can knit including Koka Ngaire. If you see a picture of a french knitter and you are like ohh that looks so cool to use, well you are right it is amazing!  I made a massive mistake I dropped the first string! Phew I got it back, that was close.

L3 Stand-"oranges"

Holy moly guacamole, that's fascinating! Did you know that a orange peel can be 1 metre & 10 centimetres! Well, I definitely didn't know that. Yesterday, we did some strand work with oranges. We learnt about volume, capacity, weight, length & quantities of pips. This is some of my work.

Stress full L3 math!!!!

YES! That was the most stressfullest math in the world! We got some crazy questions that we had to answer, with decimal points. I had no clue how to work decimal points because no one had ever showed me those before.

We had some questions like 6x17, so we had to break them up and add together, for example 6x10=60-6x3=18 so 60+16=76.  And guess what else we had FRACTIONS!!! I had never came across a fraction question in my life, I tried working it out with my multiplication and I got 18, I crossed my fingers and toes that I got it right.

We got our results back!!! Not like it was a test or anything. I was just so excited to see if I got them right. YAY!! I got all of them right expect two. It was so stressful waiting to see the answers. I went back and worked out the ones I got wrong so I could learn from my mistakes.

I thought I had a great math lesson, because I learnt so much.

Piasco art

What is Picasso art? I asked myself. Picasso art is a type of art that doesn't need to be perfect, it is good in your own way. Picasso art is weird, your hair is all over the place, your eyes are different, you have got patterns on your face and your shoulders are different heights.

When the teacher told us about Picasso art and how weird it is I thought my art was going to look like a total freak but I was wrong, it looked really cool.Picasso art doesn't have to look like you, because if it did I did mine completely wrong. Here is an example of my Picasso art.

Maggie's first day!

   Maggie's first day

Yay! I am so excited for Maggie “the new student” to come.  Ella and I waited by the gate for Maggie, she arrived with her mum and brother, but her brother rushed off with his friends before we saw him though. We introduced ourselves and showed Maggie and her mum around, we showed them all the classrooms, the pool, the hall, the playground, the bike racks and the orchard.  The second bell rang, it was piercing listening to that for so long. When it stopped we were able to tell them that it was the second bell, so we had to go to class now, we showed Maggie inside to the mat.

Koka Pip introduced Maggie to the class and showed her where to put her stuff.  Rio, Ella & I all sat down at a quiet workspace, we all decided to get our question of the week done first. After 1 hour and a half we got done two of our quick writes and questions of the week.  The teachers let us go to morning tea. We all raced to the door and scrambled out.  We dashed off to the playground and crawled up the rock climbing wall.  We went down the pole a few times then we went to the tightrope. It was very wobbly and didn’t help that the boys were shaking it!  We heard the bell and sprinted back to class to learn our digi dig. When Koka Pip said what our digi dig was, Maggie, Rio & I thought it was an online game about  cybersmart, but when we looked on the slides it wasn't. It was a task.

We had got half way through our digi dig and realised we had done it completely wrong! It took us about ten minutes to fix up our mistake & then it was lunch time.  40 minutes later we had finished lunch and we were coming back to get something to eat. We finished off the day with a game of Annihilation, which Maggie had never played before, so it was pretty new for her. I thought Maggie's day was a great first day. I am crossing my fingers that she likes it and comes back tomorrow.
