Learning through play

Every Monday and Tuesday we do learning through play and it is where you have to chose one space to work in and there is four options like Junky Monkey, Cardboard Nation, Makey Makey, and Planet Construction.

Junky Monkey

Junky monkey is a place where there is two boxes and you get stuff out and deconstruct them. The first week I went in junky monkey and it was really fun Alivia Naia and me all tried to make a doll move without us touching so we used string to direct it and it worked out really easily.

Cardboard nation

Cardboard nation is  a city of cardboard where you make stuff out of cardboard this week Alivia Naia and me made a person out of cardboard we coloured it in and gave it clothes and we even made it move by connecting these golden pins to our creation.

Makey makey

Makey makey is a technology room where you create circuits and chain reactions on your chromebook. Koka Rachel will ask us to make a human circuit so we have to go away and find out how to do that we have all the equipment we just need to work it out.

Planet construction

I have never been to planet construction so I don't no what it is.

Trip to Queenstown

In the first week of term 3, we were going to Queenstown on Thursday.  We had to get up at 5.00 since our flight left at 6.00

Our flight left at six so we got ready and headed off to the airport. Once or flight got called we jumped aboard and off we went. We had to go to Wellington first and then we go to Queenstown. The thing about planes that I hate the most is when they go sideways it is so scary it is like the plane is tipping over, and the worst part is that we are oversea so all you can see when you turn is the sea. When we got to Wellington airport we went straight to the lounge to get something to eat for breakfast. Ruby and I got hash browns and bacon and some fruit, and my parents got some yogurt.

We had to wait like four hours since our flight was delayed so we decided to go and have a walk and look around town. Once it was 10.45 we went back since our flight left at 12.30. We were in the longe waiting and waiting until our flight got called we all got and wheeled our luggage to the dropoff center and went aboard. This time Ruby and I sat next to each other since we got to watch t.v on our iPad, the flight was two hours and thirty minutes. I started to get pins and needles in my legs. I was hoping to see snow when we flew into Queenstown but we didn't we just saw mountains with heaps of snow on it.

We quickly rushed to pick up our campervan and then we were on the road it took us thirty minutes to get to our campground and once we got there we had dinner and went to bed in the campervan we were that tired.

The next day we went to this place called puzzling world and it is where you solve puzzles and do cool illusions. We got to go in different rooms and do all kinds of stuff in one room there was this ball and you touch it and in the of the ball, it is like lightning. Then after that we drove to Wanaka and did some stuff there and then my mum had the best idea to do a photo challenge and it was like someone would start and choose a picture for the other people and the person who chooses the picture had to turn around so they couldn't see who took what and then the person who chooses the picture looks at all of the photos and picks one that is the best and then whoever wins gets one Lollie and they choose the next picture.

The day after that me Ruby and dad all went skiing it was so much fun at first we didn't know how to ski so we went into a lesson and they taught us how to ski and after that, we were skiing down big slops and it was amazing, while we were learning we fell over quite a few times but it was okay because we were learning. My dad was not skiing he was snowboarding and on the first slop he went down he hurt himself, but he recovered and he still kept going.

Those were my highlights of Queenstown. Being in Queenstown for eight days was so much fun!

Pie and Donut day & PJ day

Last Wednesday it was Pie and Donut day and PJ day every person who wanted to dress up in there Pj got to and but they had to bring a gold coin donation, and whoever wanted Pie and Donut got to have one they just needed to pay six dollars. And at morning tea we got Pie and Donut they were delicious. We did PJ day to raise money for camp and we ended up with $310.80.

The camp was sposed to be in term two but since COVID 19 it was postponed to term four. I decided not to wear my PJ's but the people who did wear their PJ's looked really good there were pandas, giraffes, lions, zebras, tigers, there were even some sloths.

The Pie and Donut were so good, in the middle of the donut there was cream and jam, and in the pie, there was mince and cheese. I am really glad we had Pie and Donut day and PJ day so we could still have camp for the year sixes.

Bone Tiki

Hi, i'm Lola, and today i'm going to be telling you about the Book we read in class.

Every Thursday and Friday koka Rachel is in room 3 and she reads a book called the Bone Tiki. We used to read a book called the Maze of Bones, but we swapped to the Bone Tiki. I like the Bone Tiki better because I find it interesting to listen to, and in the Maze of Bones I found it interesting but the Bone Tiki is way more interesting.

The Bone Tiki is about a boy called Matt  trying to find his mother in Taupo he ran away from home. She helped find food and told him what   and went to a fair and meets kelly there and kelly offered to take him to Taupo because it is on her way home. They were on their way to Taupo when they got stopped by Donna (the evil woman that is trying to steal the Bone Tiki from Matt) , she had  three men with her and they looked super tough, Matt and Kelly slowly stepped out of the car, Donna had a evil grin on her face Matt and Kelly were scared to death. Two men started walking up to them every second they got closer Matt and Kelly would take a step back.

Matt held up the Bone Tiki and called for Toa in about two seconds Toa was out of the Bone Tiki and started to beat up the three men Toa was so tough. In a about one minute the three men were on the ground unconscious. Then Donna speed away in her car.

Saturday morning netball game.

Last Saturday we played a netball game out on the courts.  We played waikirikiri school they were really good.  We tied by 6.  I was mostly playing attack and centre.

Te Atawhai was playing attack with me and Te Atawhai's defender was holding her arm so she couldn't catch the ball when I was trying to pass to her so I had to keep passing to centre.

Naia was really good at playing defence, Naia was really good at jumping in front and catching the ball when the other team had the ball and trying to pass to each other. Naia was playing attack with me for one quarter and she almost scored all the goals.

Charlotte also plays defence, she is really good at getting the ball when the other team has it.  Charlotte is good at attack and shooting goals from close up.

I play attack with Charlotte mostly.  We had really good defenders so it was hard when we were trying to shoot goals and we didn't get them the other team would cause they were right under   the goal.
