🌱Green Gold🌱

Since 2014 our school has been working hard to get Green Gold, and this year 2021 we have a achieved Green Gold! Yesterday morning our whole class walked up to what we think was the start of Hamanatua.

Off we went sliding down the mudd to get to the river we had to cross. Rio and I came up with a marvelous idea, I would jump over the stream first and Rio would hold my bag, once I got over Rio would throw both of our bags over separately, and then Rio would jump across. Great plan right? Well we though it was.....

I passed my bag to Rio and leaped across the awa, and then Rio did toru strong swings and PLOP my bag was rima centimetres away from making it!!!! Now my bag was soaking wet, but we all had a good laugh about it.

"Ewww, I stepped in poo" I whined! We were all trudging through the mud complaining about slushy mud massages on our feet. So I decided to come up with a challenge. Ella, Esther, ALice, Krisse, Rio & I all had to walk through anything gross without complaining, because I think we all got sick of people complaining.

We were half way through the challenge and I think I speak for every one when I say we were DIRTY. When we got back to school and got changed our enviro team had some news for us.

WE GOT GREEN GOLD!!!!

Cross country!

Today was the last day of running the cross country track, so I wanted to make the most of it.
"Year 6s take you marks" called Koka Sue, it was time and nothing was going to stop me from doing my best. Koka Sue blew the whistle and we were all off like lightning!  I set a pace of 3rd and was hoping to stay in that positions for the whole way or get further in front.

"Breath in, breath out, breath in..." I told myself while trudging through the ditch!  Two laps later I was still in 3rd place and I was pushing myself towards the finish, just a few more steps and I had crossed the finish line 3rd place!

Overall I was very proud of myself, and I could hardly wait to get back to school for our ice creams!

Long tiring cross country track!

One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. "Ahhh I am puffing already" I complain to myself, I feel like I can't run another step. Surely we are close to the finish line, "yeah only one and a half more laps to run" said Charlotte A.

Last Friday we had to walk down to Okitu to run the cross country track. Not the actual race just a practice but it sure felt like a race, expect we ran with the year six boys and on the real day we run separateKoka Rozie taught us a trick to focus on our breathing the most so we don't get too puffed.

When Matua Nic is getting us lined up and ready to go that is when the nerves come to me, it gets better when I am running, and when the race is finished we get to relax and go back to school.

For the last few years they have done it by years youngest to oldest so the juniors always got to go fist and we big kids have to go last, just watching them all race got everyone even more nervous .

But this year it changed, we are doing oldest to youngest which, I am very happy about. We can just sit back and loosen up and watch all the other kids race.

My marvelous poem

Kia Ora today I will be sharing a poem with you, I hope you enjoy it.

I couldn't believe me eyes

when I saw what was in the sky

a bright blue tie sat on a cloud

it was very proud

But he was quite loud

though the crowd bowed

he found a very beautiful crown

he wasn't allowed a selfie with the crown

because he wasn't healthy

but adored jelly

but he had to keep telly

for his big belly.

The Olympics (Ella Williams)

Woah hooo!!! Go Ella Williams. Did you know Ella Williams started surfing ever since she was born in 1995? She entered her first surf competition at the age of six, and came second overall. By 14 years old, she was competing in the boys division and defeating them. Often they were much older that her.

Ella did amazing, making it into the third round of surfing, but sadly she missed out by only one wave. But probably as you suspected, she was just happy to be there. Ella cheered on everyone, including her opponents.

Ella enjoyed every single second of her heats. Ella just knew that she had to be grateful, but she didn't have too because she already was.

French knitting at (LTP)

How did I get three strings? That is what happens in french knitting, if you muck up it is very hard to fix it. I learnt how to french knit the other day and it is awesome. Because I didn't have the skill to actually knit properly, I mean there are some pretty talented people in our class that can knit including Koka Ngaire. If you see a picture of a french knitter and you are like ohh that looks so cool to use, well you are right it is amazing!  I made a massive mistake I dropped the first string! Phew I got it back, that was close.

L3 Stand-"oranges"

Holy moly guacamole, that's fascinating! Did you know that a orange peel can be 1 metre & 10 centimetres! Well, I definitely didn't know that. Yesterday, we did some strand work with oranges. We learnt about volume, capacity, weight, length & quantities of pips. This is some of my work.
